CASTLE MEADS = THE CASTLE MEADOWS
A focal element in my Castle Meads design is the watchtower, commanding views over both the cityscape and the adjacent nature reserve and wetland sanctuaries. Drawing inspiration from the rich heritage of the site, which spans from the ancient motte and bailey castle of 1066 to the towering chimney of the 1978-demolished power station, the watchtower embodies the site's historical narrative. Furthermore, it symbolizes the maritime legacy and shipbuilding tradition, aligning seamlessly with the project's overarching theme and concept, akin to a 'crow's nest' atop a ship.

The watchtower will offer accessibility from both ground level and an overhead walkway, boasting a viewing deck and an additional tier for enhanced panoramic views. While I continue to explore various architectural shapes and designs, drawing inspiration from iconic structures like the Cathedral and castle depictions, the final form of the tower remains a work in progress.
